One of two remaining windmills in Montmartre. Outside the walls of Paris until the 20th century, Montmartre was very rural with many windmills, hence the inspiration for the Moulin Rouge. Visit the Montmartre Museum to learn more.


Montmartre Cemetery, though not as well known as Pére Lachaise, is wonderful to explore. Berlioz and Degas are just a few names you will recognize.


The famous Moulin Rouge is a 10-15 minute walk from the apartment. Contrary to what many think, the Moulin Rouge has a fabulous variety show. Yes, there are topless dancers, but there are also great acrobats and one of the funniest ventriloquists you will ever see. Don’t waste your money on the dinner show. Go to the later shows. You’ll love it.


People come not only to see the basilica but to enjoy one of the best views in all of Paris. This fabulous view is less than a 5-minute walk from the apartment. Nighttime is magical.
